The Elvis Chapel at the base of the Apache Trail in the Superstition Mountains
The Elvis Chapel at the base of the Apache Trail in the Superstition Mountains

This chapel was used in the filming of the 1969 American Western Movie Charro starring Elvis Presley.

Having survived two fires, it is now part of the Superstition Mountain – Lost Dutchman Museum. It sits at the base of the Superstition Mountains as a reminder of the glory days of the wild west and all the old western films that were produced at Apacheland. The chapel has also become a popular wedding venue.

It is rare to see snow atop the Superstition Mountains and on that day I was lucky to be able to capture the simplistic beauty of this chapel with the snow covered mountains as my backdrop. As the sun broke through the clouds it softly lit the face of the chapel and gave a glisten to the gold cross that sits atop the building.

This photo was taken with a Canon EOS 40D and a 35mm lens. It is available for download, prints and gift items on my photography website.
