Andrew and I decided to head out to Saguaro lake yesterday afternoon to cool off with a relaxing paddle around the lake in our kayaks. We started at the Butcher Jones beach area where we were welcomed by a group of Salt River wild horses enjoying the shade of the picnic area.
Being a weekday afternoon in March, the beach area and the lake weren’t too crowded. The water was cool, but there were still a few people swimming, waterskiing, and gliding around the lake on towable floats.
There were a few people enjoying the hiking trail around the lake, some fishermen who didn’t seem to be catching much of anything, and a few standup paddleboarders braving the wakes.
We waved to the people on the Desert Belle as we passed them on their tour of the lake.
We even got to enjoy a beautiful sunset view as we paddled our way back to the Butcher Jones recreation area.
